Lesley Magazine

Free print arts, listings, nightlife, and news magazine, run for and by LGBTQIA+ womxn, trans and non-binary people and friends!

Kat founded Lesley Magazine which released it's first issue alongside a group art exhibition at Horse Hospital Gallery with support from Arts Council funding in August 2019

The magazine employed LGBT+ women, trans and non-binary people to write and create art about their work. Lesley Magazine was the first women centred events listings magazine in London since 2009.

NB. Lesley Magazine is currently dormant due to capacity limited by cost of living and long term health. Please contact Kat if you have the means to offer the serious financial support needed to revive the magazine. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Lesley is a free print publication run by and for LGBTQIA+ womxn, trans and non-binary people, and friends!

The idea with Lesley has been that this magazine acts as a voice for our community as a whole; by us, for us. With that in mind, every piece in this zine has been written from an inside perspective.

We’ve come from so much awesome stuff! From Quim, On Our Backs, Shebang, Socking Pink, those lesbian magazines that came out against cries of perversion in the 70s/80s, from Riot Grrrl! From Rebel Dykes! From the trans people and dykes who fought side by side in the Stonewall riots! From activists, fighters, campaigners, singers, writers, artists! They’ve, we’ve, been fighting for decades to get to where we are now. The fight isn’t over, and we have a tonne of work to do but we’ve had a helluva step up and we’re bigger than ever before - everyone who’s shown interest and supported us with Lesley so far has been such a testament to that.

There are SO MANY awesome people in our community doing incredible things! You’d be forgiven for not being able to find it but we’re here and we put together this publication to make it easier to keep in touch with each other.

We’re here to find each other, lift each other up and push each other forward! We’re here to shout about how great our friends’ are! Buy each other’s art! Read each other’s writing! Listen to, inspire and motivate each other.

It’s been really amazing putting all this together and we’re so exited to share with you everything that our awesome community has to say!

There is no one voice for who we are, everyone has their own story to tell and work to share. This issue only just scratches the surface!

We’re all making shit happen! and no matter what happens with this magazine we will continue to do so, as a community, as a family, as a force to be retconned with!

Thank you for everything so far, everyone who has contributed, everyone who has supported, and everyone reading this.

This is just the beginning

Love, Lesley x
